The DLC features a new story mode that follows Estel Aguirre, a former police officer who joins forces with Axel, Blaze, and the others for the first time. You can also play as any of the other characters in this mode, as well as in the Arcade and Boss Rush modes from the base game.

The three new playable characters: Estel, Max, and Shiva

The DLC adds three new playable characters to Streets of Rage 4, each with their own unique moves and abilities. They are:

  • Estel Aguirre: A former boss fight-style enemy who now fights on the side of justice. She is a heavy brawler who can dish out powerful punches and kicks, as well as use her radio to call for backup or throw grenades.

  • Max Thunder: A returning character from Streets of Rage 2 and 3 who was brainwashed by the Y Twins in Streets of Rage 4. He is a crowd-control specialist who can use his large size and strength to slam enemies around or perform devastating wrestling moves.

  • Shiva: A recurring character from Streets of Rage 2, 3, and 4 who was once Mr. X's right-hand man but later turned against him. He is a fast and agile fighter who can unleash rapid combos or wall-jump to extend his aerial attacks.

</ul The new Survival mode and its roguelike elements

The DLC also introduces a new Survival mode, where you can test your skills and endurance against endless waves of enemies in randomly generated stages. The Survival mode has two variants: Survival and Weekly. In Survival, you can choose any character and customize their moves and stats with perks that you unlock after each level. In Weekly, you can play with a pre-set character and perks that change every week.

The Survival mode has a roguelike element, meaning that if you die, you have to start over from the beginning. However, you can also unlock permanent upgrades and items that will help you in future runs. You can also compete with other players on the online leaderboards and see how far you can go.

The new weapons, enemies, and music

The DLC also adds some new weapons, enemies, and music to Streets of Rage 4. You can use new weapons such as the katana, the taser, or the spear to slice, shock, or stab your foes. You can also encounter new enemies such as the Galsia brothers, who are clones of the original Galsia from Streets of Rage 1, or the Donovans, who are cyborg versions of the classic Donovan enemy.

As for the music, the DLC features 17 new tracks composed by Tee Lopes, who is known for his work on Sonic Mania and other games. The music is inspired by the retro style of Streets of Rage 2 and 3, but with a modern twist. You can listen to the new tracks in any mode of the game, or switch to the original soundtrack if you prefer.
